The wet season includes short rains from November to December and heavier long rains from March to May. During the rainy months, forest trails can be slippery and trekking more challenging, but the park becomes lush and green with vibrant scenery.

The best time to visit Mahale Mountains National Park is during the dry season, particularly from June to September, when weather conditions are ideal for chimpanzee trekking and hiking. This period offers clearer trails, better visibility, and more comfortable temperatures. However, Mahale can be visited year-round, and the wet season appeals to travelers seeking fewer visitors, greener landscapes, and excellent birdwatching opportunities.
